So my last post was in April 2024 and oh boy, stuff happened. Some issues I've managed, some I've solved, some I'm ignoring[Footnotes 1], some I'm still working on.

It's been quite a long hiatus (eight months) and I feel like getting back on writing every now and then.

So 2025 has begun and now I'm looking forward. What do I want to do in 2025?

I'm not sure I want to write down a list of "new year's resolution" but some things I am pretty sure I want to write down:

  • Getting back in shape
    • This has been on the to-do list for too much time, now it's time to pull it out of the backlog
  • Travel a bit more
    • I've been blocked on this for too long by "external forces" but now I want to try and visit some more new places. Not necessarily fancy places.
  • Taking up new challenges and leveling up as an engineer.
    • Some things I did not manage to learn properly in the past, now I have the occasion to go back and give that another attempt.
    • For the time being, this largely means getting real good on the AWS cloud and Kubernetes. I have some experience on those, but I want to get certified real good.
  • Play more with technology at home.
    • I've had a long hiatus in playing with technology. The computers at home have been neglected a fair bit. I want to set up some new/revamped learning infrastructure, hopefully find new joy in what I used to do out of pure passion.
  • Try new stuff
    • Why not? :)
    • Some things I would have wanted to try in the past, but I did not have the necessary vibes/attitudes around me.

Hopefully I'll post updates!

Footnotes

  1. A colleague once suggested me that I'm not "ignoring issues" but instead I'm "managing priorities". Thanks Thiago :)
